Like many, wellness and body confidence influencer Jada Sezer knows firsthand the struggles that can accompany having bigger boobs – especially when it comes to working out. It can be hard to concentrate on smashing through that HIIT class or achieving a new personal best while running if you're also simultaneously stressing about something popping out, or feeling unsupported. (If you know, you know).
"One of my insecurities when I go running is that people are going to look at me," Jada confesses, saying she also gets a lot of cat calls if she wears a tight top. "Especially if my boobs are bouncing around as they naturally would... No matter how strong a sports bra I wear, they're still big and they're still going to move."
Sadly, Jada's not alone in feeling self-conscious either, as new research found one in four young women say they're put off partaking in sports because they feel uncomfortable in a kit. Luckily, Jada says that there are some tips and tricks that she's picked up along the way – and that she's tried copious amounts of gear along the way, before landing on the best bits that work for larger breasts.
First up, Jada says, a supportive sports bra is a non-negotiable, and recommends popping into London's Oxford Circus Sport's Direct's Bra Studio, if you happen to be in the area. "If I feel secure and held-in, it's one less thing to worry about and then I can just focus on the sport."
As for her favourite bra? The one she wore while running the a marathon (solely in her underwear), the Elomi Energise bra (£36), has to be right up there, the model says. "It's one of the most supportive (bras)," Jada explains. "It’s great for high impact sport. It's got big straps, and a large back piece, which is where the most support lies: around your back and waist area." Its sizes go up to a K cup.
Jada also adds that the "super comfy" USA Pro Bra from Sports Direct (from £13) is another favourite too, and well worth adding to your gym clothes drawer. "If you're looking for something for [more] low impact [activities], this bra is perfect for yoga, stretching, or just moving around," Jada reveals.
Finding a supportive swimming costume can also be tricky for women with bigger breasts, says Jada, adding that her go-to is Speedo, as the brand has got a supportive selection of swimwear, with "high necks" and a robust "architectural" support within the fabric.
And as for leggings, Jada opts for the "incredibly sculpting" Gym Shark leggings which she praises for having plenty of elastic and for complimenting any shape.
So, there you have it – the best gear from a woman who's been there, done that... and got the sports bras to prove it.
