Shopping discount cards are quite common in Singapore, where one of the national pastimes is shopping, at least for the ladies. But, do you know which discount cards give you the best shopping deals? Truth be told, some brands treat (pun unintended) their customers a notch better than others. When a store has some kind of a loyalty programme, it will usually entice more people to shop with them, versus other stores that don't.
Here, we at GET.com have researched and shortlisted the Best Discount Cards for cool brands you should get in Singapore if you want to GET more for your money. While some of these are credit cards affiliated with the brands, some cards are simply loyalty programme cards. Enjoy saving while you shop!
1. Sephora
One of the mailers that I received from Sephora Online, their online site that's just recently unveiled. (Just in case you are wondering, Sephora Online used to be known as Luxola)
Loyalty Programme: Sephora White Card (free) and Sephora Black Card
How It Works: You start off with the Sephora White Card. Membership is free for life and with each dollar that you spend at Sephora, you get to earn 1 point. Upon accumulation of 250 points, you'll be upgraded to the Sephora Black Card. Even if you forget to bring your physical card, you can still accumulate points - all you need to do is tell the cashier your mobile number that you used when signing up for their membership.
Benefits: Every 250 points accumulated will give you 10% discount plus you get to enjoy member-exclusive promotions, 2x bonus points, birthday surprises and news updates! You can accumulate points in Malaysia and Thailand Sephora, too. Sephora Black Card members will also be invited to their exclusive 20% discount events. Their discounts apply to all of the brands they carry, by the way.

Additional Info: Sephora is one of UOB's SMART$ Merchants, so you'll get to earn 3% rebate each time you use your UOB card to pay at Sephora's physical stores. For those who don't know, SMART$ works just like regular dollars. 1 SMART$ is equivalent to $1. Use your SMART$ to offset your next purchase immediately to enjoy more savings!
Sephora has an online arm where the same loyalty programme applies. You can sign up for their online membership online. Points accumulated online are not transferrable to your physical membership account, vice versa, though both can be registered under the same email address.
2. TANGS

Loyalty Programme: TANGS Insider (free), TANGS Classic ($50 spend in a single receipt), TANGS Preferred ($5000 spend in 12 months)
How It Works: Basically, you earn rebates when you spend. These rebates can be earned through both shopping at their physical stores or online e-store. You can utilize your rebates on your next purchase, just make sure that you remember to redeem the rebates within one year from the date you earned them.
Benefits: While TANGS Insider doesn't give you any rebates, you can be updated with TANGS' news and updates through it.
TANGS Classic lets you enjoy 6% rebate on every $10 spent at TANGS at Tang Plaza, TANGS Vivocity and TANGS.com, invites you to 12% rebate days and exclusive events and rewards you with exclusive birthday treats and so on. TANGS, if you are reading this, could we have more of these 12% rebate days please?
TANGS Preferred allows you to enjoy 10% rebate on every $10 spent at TANGS at Tang Plaza, TANGS Vivocity and TANGS.com, invites you to 12% rebate days and exclusive events and rewards you with exclusive birthday treats, complimentary weekday and weekend parking at Tang Plaza with min. spend of $100 per day (limited to first 100 members per day), up to 15% dining discount at Singapore Marriott Tang Plaza Hotel.

Additional Info: You have the option of picking up your purchases in their physical stores even when you shop from TANGS' e-store. This is especially useful if you don't meet the minimum spend required for free shipping. I've personally tried this option and it was such a pleasant experience - I ordered online at about 2pm and managed to pick up my items at TANGS Plaza on the same day at 7pm. Their staff were very friendly, too!
Look out for their 12% rebate days! I managed to earn 12% rebate on my Clarisonic Aria (u.p. $270). How cool is that?
3. Wing Tai Retail

Loyalty Programme: wt + Silver (free), wt + Gold ($300 spend within 12-month period), wt + Premium ($1000 spend within 12-month period).
How It Works: wt+ membership allows you to earn rewards and access more of Wing Tai Retail brands including BCBGMAXAZRIA, Dorothy Perkins, Etam, FOX Kids and Baby, G2000, i.t, Karen Millen, Topshop, Topman and Warehouse. Simply sign up as a Silver Member for free and accumulate your spend to upgrade to Gold or Premium tier to earn rewards at an accelerated rate, enjoy members' exclusives and even event invites.
Benefits:
Silver tier is the most basic, so you'll earn 1 point for every $1 spent at any wt+ brands and a birthday treat of 2x bonus points purchase ($1 = 2 points).
Gold tier allows you to enjoy 10% off on all regular-priced merchandise, earn 1 point for every $1 spent at any wt+ brands; redeem points to offset your purchases (20 points = $1) and a birthday treat of 2x bonus points ($1 = 2 points).
Premium tier allows you to enjoy 10% off on all regular-priced merchandise; earn 1.5 points for every $1 spent at any wt+ brands; redeem points to offset your purchases (20 points = $1), a birthday treat of 2x bonus points ($1 = 2 points), extended reservation period and reservation during sales and invites to members-only events.

Additional Info: There is no expiry for Silver and Gold membership while the Premium membership will be renewed if you've spent at least $1,000 at any wt + brands within a 12-month period of your Premium membership. Else, it will be downgraded to the Gold tier.
Note that the 10% discount for Gold and Premium members isn't valid in conjunction with other ongoing promotions or during the sale periods.
I love Topshop and I shop there quite a bit, needless to say, I love how I can earn 1.5 points for every $1 spent and then redeem the points to offset my future purchases. Their current point system is fairer than their old one, so that's definitely great news. Just so you know, I recently went to Topshop to get a necklace but since it was on a buy-1-get-1-free promotion, I ended up redeeming my points for 2 pretty necklaces without paying a single dollar for them!
4. Robinsons

Loyalty Programme: OCBC Robinsons Group Credit Card
How It Works: OCBC Robinsons Group Credit Card offers you privileges when you purchase from the Robinsons Group of stores. With this card, you get to enjoy 5% rebate all year round when you spend any amount at the Robinson Group of stores. There is no cap on rebates so the more you spend in-store, the more rebates you'll receive. Plus, you'll also enjoy rebates on all merchandise in-store, even on top of existing discounts and promotions.
Benefits: Besides rebates, you'll enjoy special cardmember prices and promotions, exclusive invitations to private sales and members-only events. Additionally, you can offset your shopping bills at the cashier or redeem for vouchers at Robinsons, Marks & Spencer or John Little with Robs$ where every $2 spent outside of the stores of their 19 retail brands earns 1 Robs$ and every $2 spent overseas earns 3 Robs$.
