BancorpSouth: 3Q Earnings Snapshot

TUPELO, Miss. (AP) _ BancorpSouth Bank (BXS) on Monday reported third-quarter earnings of $63.8 million.

The bank, based in Tupelo, Mississippi, said it had earnings of 63 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for costs related to mergers and acquisitions and non-recurring costs, came to 69 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 61 cents per share.

The bank posted revenue of $274.4 million in the period. Its revenue net of interest expense was $242 million, which also topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $238.7 million.

BancorpSouth shares have climbed 14% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $29.71, a climb of slightly more than 4% in the last 12 months.
