Badgley Mischka launching makeup and fragrance

Badgley Mischka Fall/Winter 2015 Bridal

Fashion label Badgley Mischka has the cosmetics industry in its sights.

The US brand has signed a licensing deal with TPR Holdings LLC that will see it launch a fragrance and a color cosmetics line later this year, Women's Wear Daily reports.

TPR's President Brian Robinson told the site that the makeup collection will echo the fashion brand's clothing aesthetic, which is largely centered on luxury bridal wear and the kind of glamorous evening wear that is often spotted on the red carpet. The debut range is set to launch in the summer and will be modest in size, with Robinson saying: "We are prepared to do an abridged collection."

The fragrance will be released sometime in the spring, in 100ml and 50ml options, but further details surrounding the scent have yet to be revealed.

Beauty brands continue to be an attractive prospect for fashion companies. Recent launches include Asos, which unveiled its first-ever own-brand makeup collection last September, and high-end accessories brand Christian Louboutin, which made the leap into makeup back in 2015. Meanwhile, several designers have dabbled in cosmetics collaborations of late -- last year saw Moschino and Balmain team up with Sephora and L'Oreal respectively, while Victoria Beckham released a second beauty series with Estee Lauder, and Christian Siriano joined forces with E.L.F. Cosmetics.
