Ashlyn RTW Fall 2021

Ashlynn Park’s fall collection broke down into three categories: bespoke offerings, a Zero Waste capsule and mainline fashions. A handful of intriguing frocks (such as the standout Quin dress with wavy oblong cutout back detail and voluminous, pouffed hips) made up bespoke while her Zero Waste capsule focused on reducing waste through thoughtful design, which she offered through a versatile white shirtdress designed from a singular piece of rectangular fabric.

Throughout the collection, the designer flexed her tailoring skills, juxtaposing mannish shapes with deconstructed elements against silhouettes both voluminous and fluid.

The look: A mix of modern tailoring with architectural, feminine designs.

Quote of note:My fall/winter 2021 collection is called ‘Hibernation.’ I played with volume, vivid color contrasts and bold lines. Also my focus was to show my design language awareness of material waste and sustainability.”

Key pieces: Said standout Quinn dress, in all white or black and cream; sharp suiting — blazers with backless or deconstructed elements and tailored jackets and fluid skirts with pouffed, voluminous accents.

The takeaway: The designer’s ethos to “focus on eliminating waste in cutting and adjusting her production system; items are preordered, never mass produced” guides her design process. Overall, the fall lineup provided smart, thoughtful fashions in modern, intriguing silhouettes.
