'Why have I received just 61p of my £10,000 Isa?'

I have a stocks and shares Isa with Aegon.

I applied for a full refund to be credited to my bank account three weeks ago and, despite my many telephone requests for information and its promises to ring back, nothing has transpired.

You say you lost count of the telephone numbers you called to try to sort this out. 

I contacted Aegon, which had acquired the Cofunds business the Isa had been with, and which was still having teething problems following this acquisition. It said the Isa money (about £10,000) was being transferred. 

This all seemed settled but on the day you expected to find it in your account there was only 61p. You found out about this on a Saturday and the uncertainty made for a worrying weekend.

I spoke to Aegon again and it turns out that the 61p was what had been left in your general investment account, which is also now being closed down. At last the Isa money you were after has been paid.

Aegon has sent you £150 for goodwill.
