Antero Resources: 2Q Earnings Snapshot

DENVER (AP) _ Antero Resources Corp. (AR) on Wednesday reported second-quarter net income of $42.2 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Denver-based company said it had profit of 14 cents. Losses, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 21 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 11 cents per share.

The oil and natural gas producer posted revenue of $1.3 billion in the period, topping Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $999.1 million.

In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, the company's shares hit $4.63. A year ago, they were trading at $20.54.
