Alkermes: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

DUBLIN (AP) _ Alkermes PLC (ALKS) on Thursday reported a loss of $5.4 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Dublin-based company said it had a loss of 3 cents. Earnings, adjusted for costs related to mergers and acquisitions and stock option expense, were 83 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 66 cents per share.

The drugmaker posted revenue of $412.7 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $408.1 million.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $196.6 million, or $1.25 per share. Revenue was reported as $1.17 billion.

Alkermes expects full-year earnings to be 34 cents per share.

Alkermes shares have dropped slightly more than 6% since the beginning of the year. The stock has declined 41% in the last 12 months.
