Agile Therapeutics: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) _ Agile Therapeutics Inc. (AGRX) on Monday reported a loss of $17.6 million in its fourth quarter.

The Princeton, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of 20 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 23 cents per share.

The developer of prescription contraceptive products for women posted revenue of $749,000 in the period, which did not meet Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1 million.

For the year, the company reported that its loss widened to $51.9 million, or 61 cents per share. Revenue was reported as $749,000.

In the final minutes of trading on Monday, the company's shares hit $3.02. A year ago, they were trading at $2.74.
