While the Singapore Zoo has been rated as one of the World’s best Zoos according to TripAdvisor, many of us may have gotten bored after visiting it over the years.
Other than the Zoo and other mainstream attractions such as the Night Safari, River Safari and Bird Paradise, there are many other local animal attractions, including the ones we cover below, that you can visit with your family.
#1 The Live Turtle And Tortoise Museum

Tortoises spend most of their time on land, while turtles spend most of their time in the water – this is why their shells can look very different. You can get up close to these creatures in ORTO (in Yishun). The Live Turtle and Tortoise Museum actually holds the Guinness World Record for the largest turtles and turtle artifacts collection.
You get to interact with tortoises, turtles and terrapins in their full glory as they roam around freely in the park, or even stop to pat or feed them with the in-house packet feed priced at $2.00 per pack.

#2 Lian Wah Hang Farm

Ever wonder where your quail eggs came from? Located in Lim Chu Kang, the Lian Wah Hang Farm is the largest quail egg producer in Singapore and has been in Singapore since 1954.
Apart from simply purchasing the locally-sourced quail eggs during your visit, you can have a glimpse of the natives of the farm – quails. Before making your trip down for some quail-spotting adventures, a tour request with the owner of the farm will be required, which can be done using the Facebook chat.

#3 Jurong Frog Farm

If you are a huge reptile fan, the Jurong Frog Farms is worth a visit. However, in February 2023, the farm closed its doors to the public due to the reinstatement of land and has since partnered with Nippon Koi Farm at 51 Jalan Lekar to continue its guided tour activities. Its Fun with Frogs tour is hosted by a trained Frogologist, get to step into the shoes of a frog farmer in the modernised city of Singapore. Apart from frogs, you’ll get to feed tadpoles and fish in the shared compound.
For frog meat lovers, you can indulge in the freshest frog legs you can get in Singapore by ordering through Jurong Frog Farm’s online website or via online grocers such as Shopee, RedMart, Sheng Siong and NTUC Hypermarts.

#4 Hay Dairies Goat Farm

Being the one and only goat farm in Singapore, the Hay Dairies Goat farm is home to more than 800 goats, with the majority originating from the USA. At the farm, you will be able to interact with goats or feed them with packs of hay sold onsite. You can even observe the milking process of the goats if you arrive at the farm from 9 am to 10.30 am and give the fresh milk a taste
While there is no entry fee required for the Hay Dairies Goat farm, you will have to purchase Alfalfa Hay for $5 a packet to feed the hungry goats. You can also purchase a range of souvenirs such as freshly bottled goats’ milk, handmade goat soap, drawstring bags and cooler boxes.

#5 Gallop Stable

Started back in 2003, Gallop Stable runs two outlets which are currently the largest public riding centres in Singapore for horses and ponies. To get the full horse-riding experience, you have the chance to ride along the lush greenery found at Bukit Timah filled with natural wildlife such as monkeys or even monitor lizards. Alternatively, you can also ride a personalised trail if you are feeling more adventurous. Apart from the rides, you can also feed the pony with the in-house feed after the ride (sold separately).
Pony and horse rides start from $10 per ride with staff supervision and a safety helmet included, and packets feed for the pony goes at $2 per packet of feed.

#7 Acres Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC)

We have all heard about the extensive efforts from ACRES to save the helpless wildlife, but have you ever wondered what happens to them after that? Rescued animals that are unfit to live in the wild, such as exotic or injured animals, are housed at the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC) until it gets relocated or repatriated back to its country of origin.
While ACRES do not charge an entrance fee, a minimum donation of $10 per person is required for entry to observe the animals at AWRC, which can range from exotic monkeys to lizards. Any donations will go directly to animal protection programmes in Singapore.

#8 Qian Hu Fish Farm
A leading integrated provider of ornamental fish in the region, Qian Hu Fish Farm exports over 1,000 species and varieties of fish to more than 80 countries across the world.
