6 Signs You Just Aren’t Marriage Material (Men’s Edition)

This article was originally on GET.com at: 6 Signs You Just Aren’t Marriage Material (Men’s Edition)

People in Singapore are getting married later in life than during our parents' time. Admit it, not every guy is marriage material. Some guys just aren't suited for marriage, period. Here at GET.com, we’ve come up with the 6 signs to help you determine whether or not you are indeed solid marriage material.

6 Signs You Just Aren’t Marriage Material

1. You Don’t Like To Be Tied Down

You crave independence and freedom. One of your mottos in life that you live by is to not be accountable to anyone but yourself - nobody tells you what to do, where to go, what to eat so on and so forth. And of course, you don’t want to be tied down.

2. You Have No Savings

Okay, you protest and inform the world that you do have a few hundred dollars in your bank account. But given a choice, who in the right frame of mind would want to marry a pauper who thinks it’s perfectly fine to not have any financial goals in life?

If you're the kind of person that regularly spends money that you don't have, relying on your credit cards to get you through the month, you should realise that your behaviour is not exactly a chick magnet.

A woman wants to share her life with someone responsible with money, she doesn't want to have to live with the stress that you won't have enough savings when you get old because you splurged it all on unnecessary things!

Marriage costs money, a lot of money. Your matrimonial home doesn’t just drop from the sky, you know? Living, in its very own essence, requires money, too.

Put simply, if you don’t have savings and you don’t see the urgency to make some money, invest and save money, nobody is going to marry you. Suck it up, the truth hurts.

3. You Don’t See The Need To Make Time For Your Partner Regularly

This is a no brainer. If you aren’t willing to make time for your partner and make her a priority in your life, why is she even dating you in the first place?

Honestly, it doesn’t cost you an arm or a leg to show that you care. Even if you’re swamped with work, I’m pretty sure your partner will be very happy to receive a text message or a short phone call from you because at least, your partner knows she’s on your mind.

4. Video/Computer Games Are Your Life

Extending from point #3, your life revolves around your games. Nothing else matters except your games. Wait a minute, why are you even dating someone?

I completely understand that everyone has his or her own right to do the things they love, the things that make them happy, but know when to draw a line when you are in a romantic relationship.

If you find yourself confined to your games and rejecting your date's requests to go on dates beyond the walls of your home every single weekend without giving any thought to her, you clearly have no desire to shower your date with the love and attention she deserves.

You probably shouldn't even be dating her (or anyone else, really) in the name of minimizing any frustration and annoyance you'll cause others.

Remember, that silly video game that you’re spending ¾ of your awake time with isn’t going to grow old with you!

5. You Don’t Give Your Partner Any Sense Of Security

Well, you must have broken her trust in you in addition to not redeeming yourself. As cliché as it sounds, trust is an important component in any relationship.

People make mistakes, we are only human. If you hurt your sweetheart, fix it, mend it and do whatever it takes to let her trust you again or risk bidding your relationship goodbye.

If you aren’t even taking any initiative to rebuild her trust in you nor give her the sense of security that she deserves, then you definitely aren’t marriage material.

6. You Are A Player

If you think dating is just a numbers game where you boast to your buddies how many different girls you’ve been with, you obviously aren’t good marriage material.

And if you’ve been cheating on your girlfriend, you should just own up, let her give you a piece of her mind and then make yourself scarce. A woman's heart is not to be broken by toxic, childish people like you.

If you have a feeling you are not the marrying kind, do not make empty promises to your girlfriend, who might just be waiting for the day you'll propose to her. Tell her honestly that you are just not keen on getting married, so if she wants to continue with the relationship, it won't be because she has been hoodwinked by you.

Of course, there are also women out there who aren't marriage material, whether they intend to get married or not. Check out the 5 Signs You Aren't Marriage Material (Women's Edition) here.
