5 Unheard Of Beach Destinations In Australia

This article was originally on GET.com at: 5 Unheard Of Beach Destinations In Australia

Many of us Singaporeans dream of visiting the land down under, which is surrounded by the ocean and known for its popular beaches like Bondi, and Surfer's Paradise. But if you've traveled extensively in Australia or went beach-hopping there, then you would know that there are plenty of other beaches in Australia that are more scenic and beautiful that go unheard of.

There are probably way too many beaches to keep track of, but just as an introduction GET.com has collated these 5 unheard of beach destinations in Australia that sometimes go unnoticed. If you love taking the road less travelled, or if you just love to visit as many beaches as you can, read on.

5 Unheard Of Beach Destinations In Australia

1. Whitehaven Beach, Whitsunday Island

If you love taking walks by the beach, then you could walk forever on Whitehaven which stretches out to 7km of pure, white sand. It's home to the Great Barrier Reef (which recently has suffered massive reef bleaching) but even though the reefs are not as majestic as they used to be, Whitehaven is still worth the visit for its blue waters and its seemingly endless beach.

2. Shelly Beach, Manly

Contrary to its name, Shelly Beach doesn't actually have shells on its beaches. With the waters only going as deep as 12m, it's a great spot for those who want to snorkel or dive to look for marine life. If you're done basking in the sun and taking a dip in the cool waters, take a walk around the bush track which hugs the headlands.

3. Fraser Island, Queensland

Fraser Island is a World Heritage-listed beach and is also known as the world's largest sand island on earth. The beach itself is an absolute sight to behold with its coloured sand cliffs and natural rainforest. You can also see wildlife on this island, from dingoes to sea turtles, and depending on which time of the year you visit, you'll be able to see whales as well.

4. Little Beach Two Peoples Bay Nature Reserve, Western Australia

This beach in Western Australia, although not as big or extravagant (hence its name) as other beaches, is still being dubbed by locals and travellers alike as mesmerising and beautiful. Awarded the 2016 Traveler's Choice Award by TripAdvisor, if you love a serene and quiet beach that you can have to yourself, look no further.

5. Cable Beach, Broome

Located in Western Australia's Kimberly region, Cable Beach offers a spectacular view of the sunset over the Indian Ocean like you've never seen before. Like many other beaches in Australia, the sand at Cable Beach is as white as can be, and what makes it even more beautiful and different are the red cliffs in the background.

Other than being home to a dinosaur footprint and being a good spot for people to dive for pearls, you can also go camel riding on this beach.
