5 Telling Signs Your Friend Is 200% Toxic

This article was originally on GET.com at: 5 Telling Signs Your Friend Is 200% Toxic

Life in Singapore is already stressful, we surely don't need toxic friends in our lives sucking all our energy and creating redundant negativities. Whether we like it or not, toxic people are all around us whether in school or at work.

The most important thing is for us to recognize who's toxic, who's dragging us down, who's making us unnecessarily miserable. And once we've established that, we can start distancing ourselves from these perpetually negative bundles of energy. Here at GET.com, we've put together a list of 5 telling signs that your friend is 200% toxic.

5 Telling Signs Your Friend Is 200% Toxic

1. Toxic Friend Complains About Everything And Everybody

Whether it's that time when there wasn't enough food at the office party or when this friend of yours had to work OT consecutively for 5 evenings straight or when this friend almost slipped because the floor was freshly mopped, he or she is the first to shove the blame to others. Nothing is ever this friend's fault, or so he or she claims.

In the puny head of this friend of yours, it's always others who are faulting, picking on him or her. Well, I'm not surprised if this friend of yours gets picked on after a while when everybody realizes how vicious this person is.

2. Toxic Friend Likes To Be Number One In Your Life

This toxic friend of yours loves drama - the bigger, the better. Instead of putting on an act that he or she is lovely like an angel, this friend seems to enjoy whipping out the card "me or your boyfriend?" or "me or any-other-plans-of-yours"?

True to their malignant nature, toxic people like to put others in a difficult position especially when others already have commitments or things planned out. Toxic people are incredibly spiteful and venomous when you choose other people or other things over them.

3. Toxic Friend's Hobby Is To Criticise Others

This friend of yours is notoriously critical. This friend criticises others all the time without any hint of good intention. He or she is out to make others feel small and insignificant.

Nobody is perfect, we are only human and that means we make mistakes. Your toxic friend will keep harping on the mistake you'd made and tell the entire world that you'd screwed up - akin to stamping the "heinous crime" committed onto your forehead. This toxic bugger will, of course, take a swipe at your self-esteem. You don't owe toxic people anything, really, so never ever let get them get the better of you!

4. Toxic Friend Is Emotionally Manipulative

I hate to say this but toxic people are are sadistic. They derive satisfaction from creating redundant trouble and chaos, constantly provoking people and driving them up the wall. Most often than not, toxic people will go to great lengths to affect others negatively. If that's not manipulation, I don't know what else to call it.

If you friend is always pushing your buttons, tormenting you with his or her lowly tactics just because he or she enjoys seeing you get all frustrated and stressed out because of the things that he or she is doing or saying, you need to save yourself and stop caring about this evil being. Nobody deserves to be manipulated and shrouded in strife!

5. Toxic Friend Treats You Like A Bank

Sure, it feels good to help people out but you need to know when to draw a line when it comes to that particular friend of yours who always treats you like his or her ATM. Besides perpetually coming to you for loans, this friend never ever takes the initiative to return you your money.

I can't even imagine how much distress this person can cause you each time you are out shopping or dining with this friend because he or she has the tendency to make you charge the bills to your credit card, then "forgets" to pay you back all the time, leaving you with extra credit card debt for no rhyme or reason.
