5 Premium Experiences In Singapore To Show Appreciation To Your Staff During Year-End Break

For the second consecutive year, our year-end, out-of-office break, is not going to be the usual overseas holiday that many Singaporeans look forward to. The COVID-19 pandemic has made it exceptionally difficult for anyone to travel overseas for a short getaway, even if they have sufficient annual leaves to clear.

For both employers and employees, this can be an extremely challenging situation. Many people are in need of a short break from work to spend more time with their loved ones, particularly after experiencing a dreadful period of COVID-19 that has impacted their mental well-being. In fact, MOH has recognised this need and has since lifted the suspension on overseas leave applications for all healthcare workers.

But besides giving your employees their well-needed time off to rest at home (since they are unlikely able to travel), why not take a step further and offer them an experience that they can enjoy with their loved ones?

As an extension of our DollarsAndSense Experience series, we identified 5 premium experiences that companies can give their employees to enjoy with their loved ones during their annual leaves.

DollarsAndSense Experiences: We Spent $166.50 For A Gold Class Movie Date

Editor’s Note: Depending on the Safe Management Measures requirement at that point in time, you may be required to be fully vaccinated. All experiences in this article can be enjoyed among groups of two, which is the current limit for groups. The prices in this article are accurate as of the time of writing.

#1 Dinner Cruise On Royal Albatross – $195/pax

The Royal Albatross is a 4-mast 22-sail luxury tall ship that offers you a dinner cruise on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. At $195 per adult, you enjoy a 2.5 hours Sunset or City Light cruise that comes with a 3-course dinner (with free-flow soft drinks) onboard the ship.

For companies with a bigger HR budget, you can also consider getting some of the upgrades such as a 6-course dinner ($50 more/pax) or a 6-course dinner with wine pairing ($100 more/pax). Alternatively, get some bar vouchers at $85 that will allow your staff to get alcoholic drinks onboard the ship.

Assuming you don’t buy any upgrades, sending your staff and their plus one for this experience would cost the company $390 each.

#2 Cable Car Sky Dining Experience – $100/pax

The Cable Car Sky Dining has always been a romantic go-to option for anyone who wants to enjoy a quiet and private dinner with their loved ones while enjoying an amazing view. Located at HarbourFront Tower 2, this cable car dinner experience will allow you to immerse in a panoramic view with your loved ones. You will ascend 100 metres above sea level from the top of Mount Faber Peak down to the Singapore harbour, before catching a bird’s eye view of Sentosa. Sounds like an option if you miss being in the air.

Sending your staff on this dinner date with their partner would cost the company $200 per couple (or $100 per person).

#3 Dinner On The Orient Express – $228 ++/pax

If like me, you have a partner who doesn’t like height and gets seasick rather easily, it might make sense to settle for a memorable experience on land. For those seeking such an option, a 5-course dinner on The Orient Express would be a refreshing experience to enjoy a meal on a luxury train.

Onboard this train, you can experience how luxury travel on the train is, and even have a taste of how first-class dining is like.

If you want to pamper your staff more, you can also consider the 7-course dinner which costs $288++ per pax, and add on wine pairing which costs between $88++/pax to $148++/pax, depending on the dinner menu you go for.

Assuming no upgrades, sending your staff and their plus one to this 2-hour dinner experience would cost $456++.

#4 Around The World In 80 Days – $148 to $168/pax

For those who prefer a little more excitement than a sit-down meal, you can “travel the world” and explore some movement and activities with the Around The World In 80 Days Book Analysis Workshop.

In this immersive dining workshop experience, participants will go to different places “around the world” and understand the process of writing a book that features different places.

The unique thing about this experience is that the location is a secret and will only be revealed 24 hours before the workshop. During the workshop, participants will also be trying different kinds of food that represent different countries around the world – perfect for those of us who miss travelling and cultural immersion.

Excluding the online booking fee, sending your staff and their plus one to this 150-minute immersive dining experience would cost $296 to $336 for a pair of tickets depending on which days they go.

#5 Golden Village Gold Class Tickets

Besides travelling and eating, another favourite Singapore pastime is none other than catching a movie at the theatre. Specifically, there isn’t quite a better way for movie-goers to enjoy a movie in comfort than to catch it with Golden Village Gold Class. As our writer has experienced, sitting in a gold class seat is like flying first class. The seats are huge, upholstered in soft nappa leather with giant armrests and tables on both sides.

Watching a movie in Gold Class is an indulgence that many of us may be reluctant to pay for. But if this is an experience that many of your staff may be craving, why not reward them with GV Gold Class vouchers that can be redeemed for GV Gold Class tickets?

At $39 per piece, GV Gold Class tickets are valid for 1 year for any Gold Class Cinema. Alternatively, you can purchase a set of 10 tickets for $270. However, do note that the set of 10 tickets are only valid from Monday to Wednesday – so if you are intending to give them the Gold Class vouchers with restricted days, you might want to give some time off as well for them to enjoy the movie!

To top it off, you can consider getting them Gold Class Wine & Dine Vouchers which costs $20 per piece. They can use it to purchase food for their movies and indulge in a complete cinematic experience.
