Toledo, Ohio

According to Homebuyer, “Toledo, Ohio, is an affordable city with something for everyone.” Toledo received a 99.82% affordability score from Homebuyer, which looked at the monthly costs for homeownership.

You’ll likely find a good number of homes on the market here – and the average monthly mortgage payment is about $932.

Here’s another city to check out for luxury homes for less in Ohio. Not only is Canton an affordable and busy city, but it also features low property taxes. Homebuyer gives Canton a 99.25% affordability score.

Springfield, Illinois

The capital city of Illinois offers a good housing market in a city known for combining the best of small-town life with big-city extras. It received a 99.22 affordability score from Homebuyer and the average mortgage payment here is about $1,104.

Detroit, Michigan

The Motor City is known for its affordable housing. In fact, according to Redfin, Detroit is among the most affordable cities in the entire Midwest. The median home price here is just about $75,000 – so you can definitely score a deal on luxury if you look hard enough.

South Bend, Indiana
