5 Fun & Free (Almost!) Activities For Singapore Families During The June Holidays

Are you looking for cheap and fun ideas to keep your kids entertained during the school holidays? Forget about splurging on a family holiday mid-year.

Here are some fun ways to ensure you spend quality time together as a family without burning a hole in your pocket!

Children's Season

What's that? Children's Season is an annual event for children to enjoy holiday fun at the Museums. It's free entry to all National Heritage Board Museums for all Singapore citizens; yes, including you the parent!

There is a wide range of activities for kids at the various museums around Singapore, including free film screenings, fun family races and engaging kids' activities.

Most of the activities are free or below $10, and we bet you might even enjoy yourself more than your child does!

Gardens By The Bay

Yeah we are sure you've been there, but there are a whole lot of new activities going on in June, especially for the holidays! The latest floral display brings to life characters from familiar nursery rhymes such as Humpty Dumpty, Mary and her little lamb, as well as Old Macdonald.

There is also a special family package promotion going at $50 instead of the usual $64.

You can check here for the full list of activities, but we highly recommend the Giant Board Games at the Supertree Grove for some kids and adult fun with 3D, life-sized board games.

Gundam Docks At Singapore

Leading Japanese toy maker Bandai Namco Asia is bringing robotic anime Gundam to Singapore in celebration of its 35th anniversary of the Gundam model kit in conjunction with Singapore's Golden Jubilee.

From 4-28 June, you can bring your kid to the exhibition at Takashimaya Square, B2 and Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza. If your kid is a fan of Gundam, bringing him/her to this event will make you the coolest parent ever!

In addition to the two 6 metres tall gigantic robots being displayed at the Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza, there is also a showcase of over 200 models of the Gundam series. While the event is free, we can't guarantee that you will not end up buying a toy model or two to make your precious child's day.

Cinema In The Park

Ever been to an open-air movie screening? While it may not be something your child might be acquainted to, it's still a great experience to be able to spend some quality time with friends and family in the lush greenery of the Singapore Botanic Gardens.

On 13 June 2015, there will be a free movie screening of the local film, Home Run (跑吧孩子) (with English Subtitles) from 7:30pm to 9:30pm in the vicinity of the Swan Lake. So pack a picnic basket and enjoy this movie under the glorious Singapore sky!

Ubin Day

Thought of bringing the kiddos to Pulau Ubin for awhile now? Stop procrastinating and do it this June!

On the 13 and 14 June 2015, there is an Ubin Open House (yes, you heard us right), where people who love Ubin get together to organise a special event for the public to celebrate our 'ulu island'.

Join guided walks, discover nature, do some water sports and eat your favourite seafood through the day. You can find out more details of this event here.
