When we say themed cafes, what comes to mind? The first wave of themed cafes gave us garden cafes and the like. Now, themed cafes have reached a whole new level of elaborate and are styled after our favourite characters and TV shows.

Singapore has not reached levels of Harry Potter and Game of Thrones cafe yet, but we do have some pretty cute and cool themed cafes already! Here’s our list of 4 themed cafes in Singapore to check out in 2017:

1. Friends – Central Perk Cafe Singapore

Any big fans of FRIENDS here? It was an iconic show that many of us grew up with. Whether you relate most with Rachel, Monica, Phoebe, Chandler, Ross or Joey, you will be sure to recognise the Central Perk logo if you have ever watched an episode of the show. The group of FRIENDS spent a lot of time in the cafe, exchanging hilarious banter and sipping cups of coffee. Now, you too can join your own group of friends and create everlasting memories at the FRIENDS themed, Central Perk cafe in Singapore.

But guess what? The cafe isn’t just Central Perk’s setting alone! You get to experience life in Monica’s kitchen, take photos of unmistakably FRIENDS-themed items like Rachel’s runaway dress and Joey and Chandler’s foosball table.

2. Gudetama Cafe Singapore

Gudetama is the lazy egg character that Sanrio created for the Japanese to encourage people to be a little bit more laid back. But the cute little sleepy egg has won over the hearts of the rest of the world too. The cafe landed in Singapore last year and has been commanding crazy crowds since. Everything on the menu is crafted by the famous LittleMissBento.

This is most definitely one of those Instagram-worthy cafes with pretty good food too! Anyone who has been can admit to its above average fare that is typically not found at themed cafes. It is clear that a lot of effort has been put into the Gudetama Cafe in Singapore and everyone should go for more than just its novelty factor.

3. Hungry Heroes

Marvel fans should definitely check out this super heroes themed café and restaurant located at a two-storey shophouse in Little India. With its floor to ceiling displays of original and licensed superhero memorabilia, the place is a feast for the eyes.

While we’re on the topic of feasts, the owners were not kidding when they named the place Hungry Heroes. The menu features large communal meals like “Nice to Meat You” that feeds 2 to 3, and the “Steak-out” which is enough for 4 to 5 persons. That sounds large enough for a really hungry hero.

4. Antoinette Palais Renaissance Singapore

Channel your inner olden day royalty or high society side when you visit Antoinette. This quaint little cafe will transport you into a whole other dimension. You would almost expect to have a tiara placed on your head while you’re here with the grandiosity of the place. If you love velvet and plush furniture, then this will be your dream cafe.

While you’re here at Antoinette enjoying your moment of regality, be sure to try out their castella cakes that now come with local flavours like Ondeh-Ondeh. Or if you prefer something more classic, then opt for the vanilla or Earl Grey too.
