4 French Restaurants in Singapore Where You Can Enjoy 1-for-1 Mains with The Entertainer
French food has a reputation for being atas and expensive which, most of the time, it is, at least in Singapore. Most of the French eateries in Singapore are indeed on the pricey side—you’re not going to see French Express or FoieGrasMania chains anytime soon.
But thanks to The Entertainer, you get to have your cake and eat it too. The app gets you 1-for-1 mains at several French restaurants in Singapore, where you can eat your fill without feeling the pinch. Here’s where to go.
Saveur
14 Scotts Road #01-07B Far East Plaza
Phone: 6736 1121
Saveur was opened by two young restaurateurs and former hawkers who wanted to offer affordable French food. Their first restaurant, Saveur at Purvis Street, did so well they’ve now got three. The food is shockingly affordable and consistently good.
With The Entertainer’s 1-for-1 mains offer, you can slash the price of your meal even further. Try French classics like beef bourguignon ($20.90) and duck confit ($16.90), which works out to a crazy $10 or less per main when you use the app.
Napoleon Food & Wine Bar
206 Telok Ayer St
Phone: 6221 9282
Despite the name, Napoleon does not fall short, at least not when it comes to their food and wine menus. While they are first and foremost a wine specialist, they’ve got some decent snacks that you can have with your wine.
The Entertainer gets you 1-for-1 on mains and a platter, so get a cheese platter ($8/$18/$32 for S/M/L) or cold cuts platter ($8/$18/$32 for S/M/L) to share.
La Petite Cuisine
10 Jalan Serene #01-02 Serene Centre
Phone: 6314 3173
If you want to sit down to a French meal in flip flops, head to La Petite Cuisine at Serene Centre. This tiny bistro, with its modest décor and plastic chairs, offers one of the most affordable French dishes in Singapore, as well as other generic pasta and meat dishes.
Go for the fuss-free dory in basquaise sauce with rice ($14) or pork cotelette with pasta ($15.50).
Or, since you’ve got 1-for-1 mains with The Entertainer, get the most expensive items on the menu—the mignon of veal tenderloin with tarragon and chanterelle mushroom and pasta ($29.50) and the fricassee of large Hokkaido scallops and baby spinach in crème sauce with rice ($29.50).
Ô Comptoir
79 Circular Road
Phone: 6534 7645
Leave aside the foie gras and champagne for the moment. At Ô Comptoir, the specialties on the menu are crêpes, galettes and cider, served up in a casual, breezy environment.
Some of their crêpe recipes have clearly been adapted for the local palate, but they’re known to be good. Try Duck It ($18), which consists of duck confit, caramelised onions, potato and thyme, or the unexpected Crab Me ($21), which contains crab, chilli, tomato, egg, chive and cheese, knowing that your Entertainer subscription gets you 1-for-1.
