3 Most Secret Beaches In The World

This article was originally on GET.com at: 3 Most Secret Beaches In The World

Beaches in Singapore are probably some of your favourite hangout spots if you enjoy digging your toes into warm sand, a dose of sunshine and whiffs of sea breeze. For beach lovers who'll be travelling around the world, the following three beaches that we at GET.com are about to share with you below should tickle your fancy. The fact that they are secretive means you don't have to jostle for towel space with fellow beach bums.

3 Most Secret Beaches In The World

1. Muriwai Beach, North Island, New Zealand

Most beach lovers travelling to Auckland, New Zealand, make a beeline for Piha Beach, completely skipping Muriwai Beach. This beach is a beautifully rugged black sand beach on North Island's coastline that happens to be one of the prettiest black sand beaches in the world.

A leisurely stroll along this gorgeous beach is absolutely relaxing. In addition to surfing, hang gliding, horse riding and paragliding, you can even try foraging for some green lip mussels when the tide is low.

2. Con Dao Island, Vietnam

Besides these beautiful beaches in Asia you didn't know existed, the gorgeous beaches on Con Dao Island are perfect for travellers who are seeking a quiet, peaceful getaway destination. For the most part, Con Dao Island is isolated from mainland Vietnam. Visitors can swim in the pristine waters and marvel at the beauty of the protected coral reefs. You can also fish, paddle board, dive, scuba dive or go windsurfing there.

Its natural beauty may be breathtaking, but the same cannot be said about its horrific past. Did you know that this tropical paradise used to confine political undesirables and prisoners back in the day? If you are inquisitive, you can learn more about Con Dao Island's history here.

3. Polihale Beach, Kauai, Hawaii

When we talk about beaches in Hawaii, popular beaches such as Mauna Kea, Waikiki Beach, and photogenic Punalu'u Black Sand Beach usually come to mind. If your aim is to get far away from the crowd whilst you are in Kauai, you might want to head to Polihale Beach, a secluded 27.35 km stretch of white sand along Kauai's windy western shores.

While there is no need for you to move mountains, getting to super ulu Polihale Beach requires a fair amount of effort on your end. To get there you will need to navigate sand dunes and bumpy roads, so a four-wheel drive will be your ideal mode of transport. This secret and not-so-accessible beach is perfect for those looking to chill in a quiet, ethereal place with close to no disturbances.

Word has it that the sunsets there are spectacular, so bring your camera along with lots of sunscreen. Swimming isn't a great idea at Polihale Beach because its currents are notoriously strong.
