22 Car Parks in Singapore You Didn’t Know Had Free Parking

free parking singapore
free parking singapore

If I had to nominate one cliché that rings all-too-true in Singapore, it would be “there’s no such thing as a free lunch”. Every year, more and more of our favourite car parks decide to stop offering free parking. But we’d like to reassure you that there are still some places where parking is free—for now.

Note: The listed parking charges are accurate at the time of writing, and were adapted from either the official published rates or sgcarmart.com (if the former was unavailable).

Free parking at Esplanade

  • 6am to 6pm: $2.20/hour

  • 12pm to 3pm: Free parking

  • 6pm to 10pm: Free parking

  • 10pm to 6am: $2.20/entry

For a long time now since the pandemic happened, Esplanade has been offering free parking during lunch and dinner hours… possibly in a bid to attract visitors again. Make use of the free parking from 6pm onwards if you’re getting dinner around the One Fullerton or Marina Square vicinity. Plus, if your dinner overruns, the charges are flat at $2.20 till late.

Free parking at Marina Square

  • Free $3 parking coupon with minimum $30 purchase (max 3 receipts)

  • 100 redemptions per day (Mon-Thu)

  • 150 redemptions per day (Fri-Sun)

But if you’re headed to Marina Square to lunch, don’t bother with the free parking at Esplanade. Marina Square offers a pretty generous free parking redemption programme as well. You’ll need to keep your receipts, go to the customer service counter to redeem your parking coupon. If you’re having dinner, do note that the coupons do run out by evening.

Free parking at Mustafa Centre

  • First hour free daily

  • $1 for next subsequent 30 minutes thereafter

free parking at mustafa centre singapore

Not only does Mustafa Centre offer cheap groceries and some of the best money changing rates in town, you also get free parking for an hour. Yay. Great if you just want to stop by for a quick prata meal nearby. The only thing you want to avoid doing is actually shopping at Mustafa, since that’s going to take at least 10 years.

Address: 145 Syed Alwi Road, S(207704)

Free parking at Ikea, Giant Hypermarket and Courts Megastore at Tampines Retail Park

  • Free parking daily

free parking ikea

While the Alexandra IKEA requires you to spend at least $15 at IKEA in exchange for 3 hours of free parking, Tampines is still ulu enough to offer parking space completely free. The same goes for Giant and Courts next door.

Address of IKEA Tampines: 60 Tampines North Drive 2, S(528764)

Free parking at The Grandstand

  • Free parking daily

We’re noticing a pattern here. The more ulu or inaccessible a place is, the more likely you are to enjoy free parking.

Address: 720 Dunearn Road, S(789631)

Free parking at OUE Downtown/Downtown Gallery

  • With a minimum spending of $10, you get:

  • Free parking from Mon-Fri after 5 pm

  • Free parking all day on Saturday, Sunday & PH

  • Limited to 30 redemptions per day

oue downtown gallery

This used to be the true “hidden” gem in the CBD — free parking in the most expensive part of town?! It was a dream for people going for a fitness class, or grabbing a bite at Lau Pa Sat.

With the new update, customers have to spend a minimum of $10 (maximum 2 same-day receipts) at any Downtown Gallery stores or F&B outlets to qualify for free parking. Still a sweet deal we reckon, when you consider the other exorbitant parking fees in the CBD.

Address: 6A Shenton Way, S(068809)

Free parking at Clarke Quay

  • Free lunchtime parking: 12:30pm to 1:29pm (Mon-Fri)

  • Free dinner time parking: 6pm-7pm (Mon-Fri)

free parking clarke quay

Getting free parking at Clarke Quay not so simple. They offer free lunch and dinner time parking… with this caveat:

“Prevailing parking charges will apply before OR after the free parking hour.”

If you are familiar with or have been carrot-ed by CBD carparks, you’ll know exactly what this means. For those who don’t frequent CBD, this is what it means:

Free lunch parking starts from 12:30pm and ends at 1:30pm. If you arrive at 12:32pm and exit the gantry at 1:32pm? You’ll get free parking from 12:32pm to 1:29pm. You’ll be charged $1.28 for your time in the carpark from 1:29pm to 1:32pm.

So, what are the prevailing Clarke Quay carpark rates?

Mon – Fri
7.00am – 12.29pm: 1st 1 hour at $1.28, subsequent 15 mins at $0.43
1.30pm – 6.59am: 1st 1 hour at $1.28, subsequent 15 mins at $0.43

Sat
7.00am to 6.59am: 1st 1 hour at $1.28, subsequent 15 mins at $0.43
After 5pm: capped at $6.42

Sun – PH
7.00am to 6.59am: $2.68 per entry

Address: 3 River Valley Road, S(179019)

Free parking at Dempsey Hill

  • Free parking daily

Dempsey Hill is one of those places that is a pain to visit if you don’t have a car. But if you do, you’re rewarded amply for your atas-ness with free all-day parking.

Address: Dempsey Rd, S(249679)

Free parking at Gillman Barracks

  • From 5pm to 8:30am (Mon-Fri)

  • From 8:30am to 8:30am the next day (Saturdays, Sundays, PH)

Free parking gillman barracks

If you’ve never even stepped into the Gillman Barracks (who cares about art, right?), you might be interested in the fact there are some restaurants there… and that parking is free after 5pm from Mondays to Fridays and on the weekends.

Address: 7 Lock Road, S(108935)

Free parking at IMM

  • First 1 hour free (Mon-Fri, excluding PH)

  • 2nd hour: $1.07, $0.30 for subsequent 15 minutes

IMM’s got a lot of competition from the other Jurong East malls these days, which is probably why they’re the only ones who still offer free parking after JCube decided to withdraw the privilege.

As many readers shared, the free parking used to be for the first 2 hours all week. However, since 1 Jan 2020, this has been reduced to 1 hour only on weekdays.

Address: 2 Jurong East Street 21, S(609601)

Free parking at Jurong Point

  • Free parking: 12pm to 2pm (Mon-Thu, excluding PH)

Each time I enter Jurong Point (which is, admittedly, not often), I feel like I’m Mufasa falling into that wildebeest stampede. But with a rather generous two hours of free parking, Jurong West dwellers might be encouraged to brave the crowds and head there for lunch. If you’re staying out to eat snake post-lunch, here are Jurong Point’s carpark rates:

Monday to Friday:

  • $1.07 for first 2 hours from 7am to 5pm, $1.07 per hour thereafter

  • $2.14 for first 2 hours from 5pm to 9pm, $1.07 per hour thereafter

  • $1.07 for first 3 hours from 9pm to 7am, $1.07 per hour thereafter

Saturday, Sunday and PH:

  • $2.14 for first 2 hours from 7am to 9pm, $1.07 per hour thereafter

  • $1.07 for first 3 hours from 9pm to 7am, $1.07 per hour thereafter

Address: 1 Jurong West Central 2, S(648886)

Free parking at Leisure Park Kallang

  • First 30 mins free (Mon-Fri)

You might have all the grace of an elephant at an ice skating rink and your bowling balls might always head straight for the longkang, but you should still visit Leisure Park Kallang if you need a quick 3o-minute grocery run with free parking. Otherwise, here are Kallang Leisure Park’s carpark rates:

Monday to Friday:

  • 8:15am to 6pm: First 30 mins free, $0.70 per subsequent 30 mins

  • 6pm to 3am: $1.80 per entry

  • 3am to 8:15am: $20 surcharge per exit

Weekends:

  • 8:30am to 6pm: $0.70 for the first hour, $0.40 for subsequent 15 mins

  • 6pm to 3am: $2.30 per entry

  • 3am to 8:15am: $20 surcharge per exit

Address: 5 Stadium Walk, S(397693)

Free parking at Pasir Ris Park (car parks B & E)

  • Free parking from 10pm to 8.30am the following day at Carpark B and E

  • $0.60 for 30 minutes all other times (HDB/URA parking rates)

Some people like Pasir Ris Park for its tranquil views of the sea. Well, while it used to offer free all-day parking at Carpark D, now it only offers free parking at carparks B and E from 10 pm to 8.30am.

Address: Pasir Ris Close

Free parking at Chinese Garden

  • Free parking daily for first hour between 6am to 6pm

  • $0.50 per subsequent 30 minutes

Free parking chinese garden

This place is like Haw Par Villa minus the ten courts of hell and uh, all the other bizarre statues. It’s cheap to visit and filled with mosquitoes.

Address: 1 Chinese Garden Road, S(619795)

Free parking at Labrador Nature Reserve

  • Free parking daily at car parks A and B

Labrador Park connects to Mount Faber, where parking is also free, so hike between the two without paying a single cent.

Address: Labrador Villa Road, S(001340)

Free parking at Alexandra Retail Centre

  • Free parking from 12pm to 2pm (Mon-Fri)

  • Free parking from 6:30pm to 11pm (Mon-Fri)

  • Free parking from 7am to 11pm (Sat, Sun, PH)

  • Usual parking charges:
$2.20 per hour from 7am to 6.30pm on Monday to Friday
$2.40 per hour from 11pm to 7am daily

This shopping mall near Mapletree Business City has the distinction of being one of the few malls in the country without an H&M, Uniqlo or anything interesting, but who cares when they’re bestowing upon us one of the most generous free parking offers in town, for a shopping mall anyway.

Address: 460 Alexandra Road, S(119963)

Free parking at The Rail Mall

  • Free parking along the road directly opposite the The Rail Mall shops (outside gantry)

free parking at the rail mall

Whether you’re there to get your groceries at Cold Storage, or to visit the restaurants, or just to admire the unique architecture of the building on this narrow plot of land, you’ll be happy to hear that parking is free.

It used to be that 95 lots at The Rail Mall were available for free, but that’s no longer the case. However, you can still parallel park directly outside the shops… but it’s pretty competitive and people do park their cars very close to each other.

Address: 380 Upper Bukit Timah Rd, Singapore 678040

Free parking at Zhongshan Mall

  • Free 2 hours parking coupon with minimum spend of $50 at the mall

  • Max 2 combined same-day receipts

  • Usual cark park charges:
$1.60 for the first hour before 6pm, $0.80 per 30 minutes thereafter
    $2.20 per entry from 6pm to 6am

Zhongshan Mall is in the Balestier area, not really near any major MRT nodes, so many aren’t that familiar with this small-sized mall. Yet, it has a handful of well-known restaurants such as Thai Express, Crystal Jade Kitchen and Toast Box.

Address: 20 Ah Hood Road, S(329984)

Free parking at BreadTalk Building IHQ

  • Free parking for first hour from 6am to 11.59pm, daily

  • Monday to Friday, 6am to 11.59pm: $1.50 for second hour and $2.50 per hour thereafter

  • Monday to Friday, 12am to 5.59am: $2.50 per hour, capped at $12.50

  • Saturday, Sunday and PH, 6am to 11.59pm: $2 per entry

free parking at breadtalk hq taiseng

This shopping mall in the Paya Lebar area deserves a prize not just for its name, but also for the fact that it offers free first hour parking, as well as per-entry parking on weekends and public holidays. Those who frequent nearby Geylang (for the durians, of course!) might want to take note.

Address: 30 Tai Seng Street, S(534013)

Free parking at Midview City @ Sin Ming Lane

  • First 1 hour free from 7am to 7pm, $1/hour after (Mon-Fri)

  • Free parking from 7pm to 12am (Mon-Fri)

  • 12am to 7am: $6 per entry

  • Full-day free parking on Sunday (7am to 12am)

What’s there at Sin Ming Lane? Well it’s pretty near to Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park, and an easy 10-minute walk to the food haven at Upper Thomson. This is really awesome because anyone who has been to Upper Thomson knows how hard it is to get parking there. Also, if you’re going hiking at MacRitchie, this is a viable parking option.

Address: 18 Sin Ming Lane S(573960)

Free parking at TradeHub 21

  • 7am to 7pm: $1.20/hour (Mon-Fri)

  • 7pm to 12am: Free parking (Mon-Fri)

  • Sat, Sun, PH: Free parking all day

Not sure why you would be hanging around TradeHub 21, which is an industrial building in Jurong East. But the free parking offer on weekends makes it an attractive proposition for those who don’t mind walking half an hour to the big malls at Jurong East.

Address: 8 Boon Lay Way, S(609964)

Free parking at Mount Faber Peak

  • Free parking daily at car parks B and C

Now we know why Mount Faber Peak is one of Singaporeans’ favourite paktor spots.

Address: 109 Mount Faber Road, Mount Faber Peak, S(099203)
