STORY: An exclusive report for Reuters has found Huawei’s latest high-end phone features more Chinese suppliers than ever before. This includes a new flash memory storage chip and an improved processor, highlighting the progress China is making towards technological self-sufficiency. Online tech repair company iFixit and consultancy TechSearch International scrutinised the inside of Huawei’s Pura 70 Pro on behalf of Reuters. They found parts including a memory chip they said was likely packaged by the Chinese giant's in-house chip unit HiSilicon. These findings have not been previously reported, and Huawei declined to comment. Some memory chips for earlier models had been made by South Korea’s SK Hynix. Now Huawei’s resurgence in the high-end smartphone market after four years of U.S. sanctions is being watched closely as it has become a symbol of U.S.-China trade tensions. Huawei launched the Pura 70’s four smartphone models in April, and they quickly sold out.Analysts say it will likely take more market share from iPhone maker Apple, leaving Washington to question the efficacy of its curbs on the Chinese telecoms equipment giant.
India is projecting its biggest power shortfall in 14 years in June after a slump in hydropower generation, its government told Reuters, and is racing to avoid outages by deferring planned plant maintenance and re-opening idled units. The deficit also follows delays, a government source said, in the commissioning of 3.6 gigawatts (GW) of new coal-fired plants which had been targeted to be operational before March. A peak shortage of 14 GW is forecast in June during nighttime hours, when solar capacity is offline, the Central Electricity Authority, the country's planning body for the power sector, told Reuters in a statement.
They are cheaper to run. They can be simpler to manufacture. And of course, they are far better for the environment, playing a crucial role in hitting our targets to cut carbon emissions.

BEIJING (Reuters) -China's car exports surged to a record high in April, data showed on Friday, as domestic sales slipped 5.8% from a year earlier amid intensifying price competition and consumers' caution about spending on big items during a shaky economic recovery. Car exports jumped 38% year-on-year to 417,000 units in April, continuing strong momentum from the previous month which posted a 39% growth in exports, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) said. An ongoing anti-subsidy investigation by the EU into Chinese automakers has disrupted and put pressure on vehicle exports to the bloc, but China has been actively exploring South America, Australia and ASEAN markets for exports, said Cui Dongshu, secretary general of the association.
NEW YORK (Reuters) -Oil prices edged up to a one-week high on Thursday on data from China and the U.S. signaling demand in the world's two biggest crude-consuming nations could climb. "However, if Iran becomes emboldened by the U.S. stance and jumps back into the fray after keeping (a) low profile for weeks, then the market could rally back to multi-month highs," Yawger added.

LONDON (Reuters) -Global benchmark Brent hovered above $84 a barrel on Friday after data this week signalled growing demand in the U.S. and China, the world's two largest crude users, while festering conflict in the Middle East also provided support. Falling U.S. crude inventories on the back of higher refinery runs coincided with data on Thursday showing China's April oil imports were higher than last year's. U.S. inflation data next week will also be front and centre, with its potential to affect the Federal Reserve's interest rate policy path.

ChatGPT is OpenAI's chatbot that uses the company's cutting-edge AI models to generate human-like responses to text prompts.Industry observers have long called it an alternative for gathering online information, though it has struggled with providing accurate and real-time data from the Web. An integration with Microsoft's Bing search engine was launched last year for paid subscribers.

The U.S. could take "extreme action" and ban Chinese connected vehicles or impose restrictions on them, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said on Wednesday, in the first indication a ban could be on the table after a national security investigation. The Commerce Department is reviewing public comments that were due by April 30, Raimondo told Reuters, on a probe the Biden administration launched in February into whether Chinese vehicle imports pose national security risks.
Since 2020, Amazon (AMZN) has been making efforts to extend its online retail stronghold into the pharmacy world. The company announced that it expects same-day pharmacy delivery services to become available in up to a dozen US cities by the end of the year. Amazon Pharmacy Chief Medical Officer Dr. Vin Gupta joins Wealth! to discuss the move and what the current state of pharmacies lacks for the average consumer. "If your provider can get that prescription in before, say, 5:00, we're able to get that to your door before the end of the evening," Gupta explains. He highlights the importance of this service for consumers with acute conditions, saying, "that time to treatment is critical." The service will not have additional charges for same-day deliveries, "and that's exactly what people expect from Amazon," Gupta says. "We know that 30% of people don't pick up their refills on time, or if ever, because it's an inconvenient experience, especially if you're not feeling well," adding that he believes Amazon's new initiative will make major strides in the average consumer's health. The service will have a different sign-on and portal experience, keeping health data separate and private from users' retail profiles. Gupta explains that it will also offer several different ways to pay with or without insurance, touting a discount savings program and automatically applied manufacturer coupons. He adds that in addition to the home delivery service, a team of clinical pharmacists will be available 24/7 to answer any patient questions. "We're truly building the modern pharmacy that the future needs," he tells Brad Smith and Anjalee Khemlani.
