SMRT's net profit jumped 23% to $20.8m in Q4

On back of higher bus revenue.

SMRT reported that its net profit grew 23% year-on-year to $20.87m in the fourth quarter.

Its bus segment managed to bounce back into the black during the quarter after 17 consecutive quarters of losses. However, its train operations suffered its first-ever quarterly loss of $2.4m.

The non-fare business improved 8.3% and registered an operating profit of $115.2 million in
FY2015 due largely to an increase in profit for rental segment and taxi operations.

The group posted an earnings per share (EPS) of 1.4 cents in Q4, up 23% from 1.1 cents in the same period last year.
