Nasdaq OMX rehires Adena Friedman as president

Stock exchange operator Nasdaq OMX rehires Adena Friedman as president

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. said Monday that it has rehired Adena Friedman as president of the stock exchange operator.

The New York-based company runs the Nasdaq stock exchange and other exchanges in the U.S. and Europe.

Friendman, 44, worked at Nasdaq OMX for over a decade before leaving. She was most recently chief financial officer at private equity firm The Carlyle Group.

She will run Nasdaq OMX's information and technology solutions group when she joins the company on June 12.

"She started her career at Nasdaq and played a major role in shaping the strategy that guides many of our actions today," CEO Bob Greifeld, 56, said in a statement.

Nasdaq OMX also said it promoted Hans-Ole Jochumsen, 56, to president of its global trading and market services. He had been executive vice president.

Shares of Nasdaq OMX Group finished at $36.37 on Friday.
