Find out M1's biggest advantage over StarHub, SingTel

Its LTE services cover 95% of Singapore.

According to CIMB, it believes that M1’s nationwide coverage for its LTE services, which is defined as at least 95% of island-coverage will give it a competitive edge over its peers, SingTel and StarHub.

Here's more:

SingTel's network LTE made up 90% of the island-coverage in end-12. StarHub has said that its LTE coverage is currently over 60% and expects it to reach nationwide by mid-2013. Meanwhile, SingTel said that its LTE coverage was 90% as at Dec-2012 and expects it to reach 95% or nationwide coverage by Mar 2013.

4G is better than 3G for both consumers and operators. We expect the migration to 4G to benefit both consumers and operators. From a consumer’s point of view, 4G offers speeds 3-4 times that of 3G.

For operators, 1) 4G’s network equipment is able to take on more data traffic when compared to 3G due to technological advancement, and 2) we gather that capex for 4G network equipment is lower than 3G’s.
