Indonesia’s ‘.id’ Domain Expected to be Southeast Asia’s Largest Next Year

The Management of Indonesian Internet Domain Name ( PANDI ) said on Friday that the number of registered Indonesian domain names (.id) has a good chance to become the largest top-level domain among Southeast Asian countries, this according to a Kompas report. At the moment, Indonesia’s 103,882 .id domains are still outnumbered by Singapore’s .sg and Malaysia’s .my domains, which have 144,591 and 206,663 registered domains respectively.

Indonesia has seen an increase of 62.5 percent to its number of registered .id domains in comparison to 2011. PANDI forecasted that the growth rate will increase up to 170 percent, with about 300,000 new .id domains to be registered next year.
