Alpha subsidiary opening London office

Alpha Natural Resources subsidiary opening London sales office

BRISTOL, Va. (AP) -- Coal supplier Alpha Natural Resources Inc. says a subsidiary is opening a sales office in London.

Alpha Chief Commercial Officer Brian Sullivan said Thursday the office that subsidiary Alpha Coal Sales International Ltd. will open will sell Central Appalachian coal to customers throughout Europe.

Exports account for about 40 percent of Alpha's revenues, and Sullivan says the move will help the company optimize business and build value for shareholders.
