Singapore's Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp (OCBC) plans to add to its investments in Greater China, and is recruiting staff to help lift private banking assets in the region by 50% by 2026, senior executives said at a event in Hong Kong on Wednesday. OCBC, Singapore's second-largest bank, is on track to spend HK$1.5 billion ($192 million) by the end of 2026 on digital and tech platforms in Greater China to improve customer and employee experience, said Chief Executive Helen Wong.
As the digital transformation accelerates, with a significant shift towards online banking as evidenced by widespread branch closures in the UK, investors might look for stability and consistent returns in their portfolios. In this context, high-yield dividend stocks listed on the SGX present an appealing option for those seeking to generate regular income from their investments amidst changing economic landscapes.
(.) * South Korean won falls 0.9% * Indonesia's stocks jump 1.1%, hit 7-week high * Malaysian stocks at highest level since March 1, 2022 * Indonesia and South Korea rate decisions expected next week By Poonam Behura May 17 (Reuters) - Emerging Asian currencies edged lower on Friday, while stocks largely flitted in and out of negative territory, as hawkish comments from Federal Reserve officials clouded the timeline for potential U.S. rate cuts. A market rally sparked by softer U.S. inflation fizzled out as the greenback rebounded following a tight labour market data and caution from central bankers about inflation. "While USD may adjust lower in light of recent softness in U.S. data, there may also be a limit to how much lower the USD can go as the USD still retains a carry advantage, broadly," OCBC currency strategist Christopher Wong said.
