Tiger Leaps for Lunch in Slow-Motion Video From Oklahoma City Zoo

The Oklahoma City Zoo and Botanical Garden marked International Tiger Day on July 29 by showcasing the agility of a resident Sumatran tiger.

Slow-motion video from the zoo shows tiger Gusti leaping up several feet to reach food at the top of his feeder pole. “Sumatran tigers can jump vertically up to 16 feet!” zoo officials said.

The zoo noted that “tigers are one of the most threatened victims” of the illegal wildlife trade and urged people to learn about how their purchases of jewelry, traditional medicines, clothing, furniture, souvenirs, and exotic pets can contribute to wildlife trafficking. The zoo shared a link to the Wildlife Trafficking Alliance. Credit: Kyla Flatley, Oklahoma City Zoo via Storyful
