Roku surpasses Tesla in ARKK ETF, Boeing launches Starliner Spacecraft to ISS, Decker beats earnings

Yahoo Finance Live reviews several of the stocks tied with today's leading industry stories, including Roku's position in Cathie Wood's ARK ETF and UGGs manufacturer Deckers Outdoor's earnings report.

Video transcript

RACHELLE AKUFFO: Welcome back, everyone. Move over, Tesla. Roku has taken the top spot as the biggest holding in Cathie Wood's flagship ARK Innovation ETF. So Roku is my top pick in our triple play. Now Roku now accounts for about 8.4% of Ark's holdings, versus 8.2% for Tesla. And as you can see, Roku stock down for the day. It's also been hammered over the past year, down around 70%.

Now Tesla stock, though, is also down nearly 40%. And that's ever since Elon Musk announced that he was having his Twitter bid. So being top of this list might not necessarily be a badge of honor or a good omen. But those declines from Tesla did change the relative rankings. But the fund has been slowly selling off shares of Tesla over the past year.

SEANA SMITH: Yeah, I was going to say, I don't know if you want to be the top holding here of Cathie's Ark fund, at least, more recently. But it's interesting. She's still very bullish on Tesla. She actually has a $4,600 price target on the stock by 2026. So, certainly still sees a reason to buy that name. It's a top trending ticker on our site right now. You mentioned the fact that Roku hasn't done too well year to date either. Some of her other top holdings, Exact Sciences, Zoom, Block, they're all off pretty significantly since the start of the year. So we'll see how things shake out for those top five holdings.

All right, I'm taking a look at Deckers Outdoor Corporation, the footwear and clothing maker having a pretty strong day today. You can see shares soaring on its fourth quarter earnings beat. Earnings and revenue topping the Street's expectations, sales jumping 31% to $736 million. And guess what? Uggs, they are back. Sales of the UGG brand rising 25% compared to a year ago, while HOKA sales surged 60%. I'm a big believer in both of those brands. I love HOKAs, I love Uggs, so it's not a surprise to me that the company did pretty well the last quarter. Year to date, though, a bit of a different story. The stock off just around 30%, Dave.

DAVE BRIGGS: Yeah, HOKA was the real superstar on that. And reading the comments from Dave Powers, I mean, bravo, man. He was enthusiastic. He was name checking Foot Locker and that relationship and how successful it's been. So you like the HOKAs, though.

SEANA SMITH: I love them.

DAVE BRIGGS: The big, fat soles.

SEANA SMITH: They're so comfortable.

DAVE BRIGGS: I've never worn a pair.

SEANA SMITH: Protect your knees, great for running. I'm getting too old for some of the other brands out there, so.

DAVE BRIGGS: Come on. I'm 10 years older than you. You can't fire that shot at me.

SEANA SMITH: I know. That's why I'm shocked that you've never tried it. About time.

DAVE BRIGGS: No, I've never tried any Uggs either. But in the release, they mentioned how Uggs has really diversified their products. I do have Uggs PJs. They are unbelievable.

SEANA SMITH: And UGG slippers, too, are very good, too.

DAVE BRIGGS: I also have those! All right, good stuff. My play is Boeing. Third time was the charm for Boeing's crew capsule, which blasted into orbit overnight on a test flight without astronauts, if all goes well. And the capsule reaches the International Space Station later today. NASA could test pilot. They could strap in later this year or early next year. As for Boeing share price, though, it's going the opposite direction, continuing that crash down more than 40% year to date.

There was some good news this week, though, as British Airways parent company, IAG, actually ordered 50 737 MAX Jets in a partial switch from Europe's Airbus. But again, the fall fell again today almost 6% for Boeing shares. Can't help but think in the long run, Rachelle, this is a good play, given the market share.

RACHELLE AKUFFO: I mean, you would think so. And obviously, as you mentioned there, Boeing due for some good news. Has been having a lot of problems trying to compete with Airbus in this space, so a little bit of welcome news there. And of course, on the up front, big fan of Uggs. Wait till you try their home goods. The cushions? You'll sleep like a baby on those pillows.

DAVE BRIGGS: The what?

SEANA SMITH: I didn't even know that they had pillows.

RACHELLE AKUFFO: Like, the long cushions, the pillows, you'll be out like a light, I promise you. Fantastic.

SEANA SMITH: Well, I know what I'm doing this weekend. Got to go out and try it.

DAVE BRIGGS: I will check that out as well. Good tip.
