Nvidia shares rise, debt ceiling deal, Holmes reports to prison: Tuesday's top stories

- Well, it is closing time here at Yahoo Finance. Here's a look at some of the top stories of the day. Nvidia briefly joined the trillion-dollar club on Wall Street at the open of trade. But as the session wore on, the stock cut some of its earlier gains.

Shares of the chip giant closing just above $400 a share with a market cap of $990 billion. To achieve that trillion level, the stock would have to close at 404.86 per share. The moves in Nvidia helping lift other chip stocks on the day as well.

- The other key story for investors. The debt ceiling deal while President Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy reached an agreement, getting the deal through Congress before the deadline may have some hurdles. Some conservative Republicans have threatened to block the bill from getting to the floor.

But after that house Rules Committee met earlier today. One of them does appear to be ready to move forward. Republican at Kentucky, Congressman Thomas Massie telling reporters that he is a likely voting Yes to advance the debt deal.

And finally, Elizabeth Holmes is in prison. She reported to federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas this afternoon to serve out an 11-year three month sentence. The facility is about 90 minutes outside of Houston. And reports say her parents were with her when she arrived.
