Man Jailed After Loaded Gun Thrown Into Garden During Police Raid

A man has been jailed for five years, police in the UK said, after he was caught on camera throwing a loaded revolver into a neighbour’s garden during a raid in Birmingham.

Police said Nigel Collins, 33, attempted to flee from his house through the back garden when a firearms team called at his front door. Police waiting at the back of the house stopped Collins, and one officer’s bodycam captured the moment he threw a bag over the garden fence.

Officers soon found the bag, which had a loaded revolver inside.

Police said the video gave “irrefutable evidence linking [Collins] to the gun”.

Collins was arrested at the scene, and admitted possession of the firearm and ammunition.

Police said Collins was on licence at the time of the offence, after being jailed for nine years in 2014 for robbery. He was jailed for five years and four months. Credit: West Midlands Police via Storyful
