Little Octopus Tries on Discarded Baseball Cap in Australian Bay

An Australian octopus climbed in a discarded baseball cap it found on the seabed in Port Philip Bay, Victoria, but ultimately did not make the headgear its own, video by a local diver shows.

Footage by diver Jules Casey shows the octopus rushing toward the cap and fitting its whole body inside it, before scuttling away on the seafloor.

“At first I noticed the baseball cap and I was going to pick it up,” Casey wrote in an Instagram post.

“Then the octopus appeared beneath me. He moved toward the cap as if to claim it as his own,” Casey added. Credit: Jules Casey via Storyful
