Hindus take a holy dip in the River Ganges

STORY: During the festival, devotees worshipped the holy river venerated by Hindus as a mother as well as a goddess, as the Ganges holds a uniquely significant place in Indian life and consciousness.

The Ganges is a symbol of purity for Hindus. Devotees bathe in the river and offer prayers for the well-being of their families.

"There is no bigger blessing than being able to take a holy dip in the river Ganges on Ganga Dussehra in the pilgrimage town of Varanasi," said a devotee, Ashwani Kumar.
