Footage Taken at United Nations Shows Police Standoff Outside

Footage recorded inside the United Nations Secretariat building in New York City on Thursday, December 2, captured a standoff between police and a pacing man observers said was armed with a gun.

Shortly after 11 am, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) tweeted that people should avoid the immediate area of 42nd Street and 1st Avenue, where a main entrance to the UN used by staff and diplomats is located. At 12:35, the department tweeted again, stating that the incident was “ongoing.”

This footage, recorded from inside the Secretariat building on Thursday, shows the standoff outside. Local reports indicated the pacing man was “armed,” but that is unclear in this footage. Credit: Anonymous via Storyful
