Fire Crews Battle Dixie Fire in Plumas County as New Evacuations Ordered

The Dixie Fire burning in Plumas County, California, grew to 223 square miles and was at 18 percent containment as firefighting efforts continued, footage shared on Friday, July 23, shows.

New evacuations were ordered on Thursday as crews witnessed “extreme fire behavior,” according to Plumas National Forest.

A new blaze dubbed the Fly Fire started in Plumas County’s Butterfly Valley on Thursday afternoon and had reached over 1,600 acres as of Friday, the national forest said.

This footage shared by San Luis Obispo City Fire Department shows firefighters at work in Plumas County.

“It takes an incredible amount of cooperation, teamwork and long hours to bring these large fires under control,” the department wrote in a caption. Credit: San Luis Obispo City Fire Department via Storyful
