Festivities begin celebrating 400 years of King Singhe Namgyal's accession to throne

To celebrate and take pride in Ladakh's glorious past, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, on Sunday organised "Ladakh Rpal Ngam Tuston". The thematic subject for 2016 celebration was "400th Anniversary of Great King Singhe Namgyal's Accession to the throne and contribution of Lama Staktsang Raspa and Spon Namkha Spalgon". LBA president, Tsewang Thinles was the chief guest on the occasion and heads of other religions, including president of Anjuman Imamia Leh, vice president Anjuman Moin-ul-Islam Leh and president Moravian Church Leh, were the guests of honour. Others present on the occasion, included CEC, LAHDC Dr Sonam Dawa, ECs, Councilors, district officers, monks, prominent scholars and public that gathered in thousands at Leh polo ground to witness this special event. From Leh Palace, a procession with 'Chhos Puti' written by Spon Namkha Spalgon, 'cup saucer' and 'chak-ber' of Lama Staksang Raspa was taken to Leh polo ground where it was displayed to public for blessing. A tradional cultural program was also presented on the occasion.
