Ferrari boasts record orders, plug-in hybrid at shareholders meeting

Yahoo Finance automotive reporter Pras Subramanian joins the Live show to discuss the key takeaways from Ferrari's shareholders meeting.

Video transcript

RACHELLE AKUFFO: Now, if you have a bit of a higher budget, Ferrari's earnings are still a few weeks away. But then the automaker had some news to share, as well, today. What more can you tell us?

PRAS SUBRAMANIAN: That's right, all systems go for Ferrari. About two weeks before they have earnings coming out, they had Investor Day in Italy. And their chairman, John Elkann, said that they have a record order book, meaning all their production slots and all their sort of forward order book has been-- is fully booked. They can't make any more cars. They're already signed out to buyers. So they're in very good shape. They're very happy about that.

This, as the company just announced, is Purosangue SUV. Don't call it an SUV. They don't like that. But that's what it is, basically, all-wheel-drive car, a V12. It's pretty awesome.

And also, they're seeing high sales of the 296 plug-in hybrid. This is a sports car. It's a plug-in hybrid. I mean, that car is bellissima. I think it's absolutely incredible. You know, that's what I'll also say-- that in two weeks, for me doing "After the Call" special with Ferrari, too, so that's in two weeks. So come check that out. But I mean, Ferrari doing really well here, firing on all cylinders so far.

DAVE BRIGGS: Oh, that is a beautiful ride. Rochelle said the Lucid turned a few eyes. I think that thing, safe to say, would turn all eyes. I do like, obviously, the Rivian. But keep your eyes open for the RAM REV 1500, which is not out yet. But that is a beautiful car. I got to get behind the wheel of that thing.

PRAS SUBRAMANIAN: If they can bring that down and a reasonable price--

DAVE BRIGGS: Price tag is going to be an issue.

PRAS SUBRAMANIAN: --with 500 miles, like you said, I think that'll be the one, right?

DAVE BRIGGS: Yeah, that tops the Silverado or the Ford F-150.

PRAS SUBRAMANIAN: Easily, yeah.

DAVE BRIGGS: Excellent segment there. Pras Subramanian, senior autos reporter, have a good weekend.
