‘Steve Jobs’: Danny Boyle, Aaron Sorkin on Apple CEO’s Criticism, Why Fassbender Is Unlike Other Actors

“Steve Jobs” director Danny Boyle and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin recently sat down with Variety to discuss their unconventional approach to bringing the Apple co-founder’s life to the big screen. SEE MORE: Awards: The Contenders Boyle said the biggest challenge he faced was translating 185 pages of dialogue that comprised three scenes with six characters into a coherent film. As far as unexpected choices go, Sorkin said star Michael Fassbender made the ideal Jobs. “He is simply a sensational actor who does something that a lot of movie stars are unwilling to do,” Sorkin said. “He doesn’t ask the audience to like him.” Further episodes of “Contenders Conversations” will be released every Wednesday throughout the Oscar season.
