Coca-Cola partners with Marshmello for new flavor, Arby’s and Old Spice team up to fight meat sweats

Yahoo Finance food reporter Brooke DiPalma details the new collaboration between Coca-Cola and DJ Mashmello, in addition to unveiling Arby's latest promotion to help combat the "meat sweats".

RACHELLE AKUFFO: Welcome back. Just in time for the hot weather, some new summer treats to try. Joining us with the scoop is our very own Brooke DiPalma. So Brooke, you're going to kick us off with Coca-Cola coming out with a new flavor.

BROOKE DIPALMA: Absolutely, Rachelle. Innovation is really taking center stage this summer. And Coca-Cola is out with a new collaboration for the first time ever with an artist. This one's with DJ and music producer Marshmello. Now you might think that this new Coca-Cola flavor is, in fact, marshmallow, but it's actually watermelon and strawberry. That's the artist's favorite flavors.

Now this is part of Coca-Cola's Creations. It's an innovation hub that launched back in February. This is the third flavor that's come out of Coca-Cola Creations. As I noted, this is now Marshmello's limited edition Coca-Cola. Unfortunately for you, Rachelle, but lucky for Seana and I, this hits shelves July 11, and we have an early taste. As you can see here, it also comes in a zero sugar option. You can hear that crisp flavor. And just for full disclosure, this is my first time ever having Coca-Cola, so.

SEANA SMITH: Smells good.


SEANA SMITH: But your first time ever having Coca-Cola?

BROOKE DIPALMA: It's actually not bad.

SEANA SMITH: [INAUDIBLE] after the show, but it's actually--

BROOKE DIPALMA: It's not bad.

SEANA SMITH: --really good.

BROOKE DIPALMA: And also on here, you can see that there--

RACHELLE AKUFFO: I can barely believe, Brooke.

BROOKE DIPALMA: I know, I know, hard to believe. But there's actually a QR code as well. And this really is for fans to engage in their website on July 25. There will actually be an opportunity for fans to interact with Marshmello's music. It really is about innovation here. And it's really about engaging consumers where they're at. And this actually isn't too bad. I think I actually would have it again. Dare I say it?

SEANA SMITH: I don't know. I'm just floored that you've never had Coca-Cola before. I was not--


SEANA SMITH: I thought you were gonna say maybe Cherry Coke. It is very sweet. I have a few more questions for you, once we get off. But we need to turn to another interesting collaboration from Arby's with Procter & Gamble's Old Spice. It's called the Meat Sweat Defense Kit. Dave Briggs is back with the sweatsuit on. I'm also at a loss of words from this.

BROOKE DIPALMA: Oh, my gosh.

SEANA SMITH: Look at that model.

BROOKE DIPALMA: Absolutely amazing. So as you can see right here, Dave is, in fact, wearing the Meat Sweats Defense Kit. Now that includes the sweatsuit with that co-branded sweatband that he has on. Now, it also, in addition to that, includes this, the dry spray from Old Spice. As you can see, right here, if you pull out this package, that includes two dry sprays.

Now, Seana and Dave, this actually went on sale for $60 on Wednesday morning. And by the afternoon, it was, in fact, sold out. And that just goes to show that fans are, in fact, very, very excited for this $60 sweatsuit, for this--

DAVE BRIGGS: Oh, yeah.

BROOKE DIPALMA: --co-branded. And they just cannot get enough of the collaboration of these crazy mockups of brands. We saw it with ELF Beauty and Chipotle, Dunkin' and ELF Beauty. And Dave, clearly, you're digging the sweatsuit as well.

DAVE BRIGGS: This thing is fantastic. I'm not taking it off the whole weekend. I will say, meat sweats are no joke. I mean, it's an interesting collaboration. It's fun. But those who have had meat sweats from eating too much meat, it's the real deal.

SEANA SMITH: Are you speaking from personal experience?

DAVE BRIGGS: I speak from personal experience, yes, ma'am.

BROOKE DIPALMA: And Arby's, of course--

RACHELLE AKUFFO: Just make sure--

BROOKE DIPALMA: --and Old Spice really hoping-- that's right, Rachelle.

RACHELLE AKUFFO: Make sure you don't wear that into the woods. You're probably going to attract a few bears. Be careful there, Dave.

DAVE BRIGGS: This will be a big hit on the New York City subway.

BROOKE DIPALMA: Oh, my goodness.
