("Great Pacific") pursuant to which Great Pacific has suggested that it would be willing to acquire all outstanding common shares of Canfor (excluding those already directly or indirectly owned by Great Pacific) at a price of $16.00 per common share (the "Indicative Offer"). The Board has constituted a special committee of independent directors (the "Special Committee") to review the Indicative Offer and, in consultation with its legal and financial advisors, consider Canfor's strategic alternatives, including Canfor's response, if any, to the Indicative Offer.
VANCOUVER , July 18, 2019 /CNW/ - Today Canfor Corporation (CFP.TO) announced further capacity reductions at two of its British Columbia sawmills with an indefinite curtailment at its Mackenzie sawmill and the permanent elimination of one shift at its Isle Pierre sawmill. The indefinite curtailment at Mackenzie , which is effective immediately, is due to the high cost of fibre, continued poor lumber markets and challenging operating conditions that have combined to make the mill uneconomic under these conditions. The Isle Pierre sawmill will be permanently reduced from two shifts to one shift effective September 20, 2019 .
