    CNBC NEWS:

"Preliminary data about the severity of the Covid omicron variant is “encouraging,” the White House’s chief medical advisor, Dr. Anthony Fauci said, following early figures from South Africa that suggest it may not be as bad as initially feared".

I sold nothing. I bought tons of hotel stocks - fear is your frienddd! :)
Airline stocks should gain at least 20% today - they are still super cheap given their current prices and future potential...

...and if 'omicrob' variant reveals to be super contagious and less dangerous we will be 50% up next year!

Last week a few people on here talked about opening short positions. You’re about to pay a heavy price today. Yesterday was your last chance to cover with a manageable loss. Today it ain’t gonna be manageable.

I can't think of a better start of the week - that's what I referred to on Friday and during the weekend, with some reflections on what was a good performance in disguise on Friday. We are severely undervalued and investors are hopping on the running train.

Was hoping for at least another 3-5% increase today.

    High 40's coming soon

Fauci said in an interview with CNN that Omicron is not as dangerous as Delta, he also hoped the United States would lift its ban on travelers from southern African countries. $DAL $LUV $JBLU.

So, I tried to post this last night and it got deleted, I’ll try again.

I am encouraged by United’s movement on Friday. Here are 3 key reasons why.

    1. Nasdaq lost about 2% and so did we. In the thick of the DELTA variant in the summer, we would normally lose twice or thrice as much as Nasdaq on a down day. This Friday we moved consistently with the rest of the market.

    2. We were down severely (over 4%!!!) during the day and had a bullish upward movement along with all the recovery stocks (DAL, AAL). I have a feeling people are not so worried about Omicron, given the small encouraging data that are starting to trickle in

    3. We did way better, overall than some of our peers (see AAL as a reference), which reinforces my view that United has been managed magnificently during these tough 2 years, and is extremely well positioned for when this nightmare is finally over.

Whatever your strategy is, I’m glad I was able to buy more at around 40 - 40.5, and wish everyone a great weekend and best of luck!

The WHO has announced they have not received reports of any deaths from Omicron infected patients. The first data trickling in seems positive and in our favor. If these good trends persist there will be a massive increase in share price in a fairly contained amount of time. Lots of investors on the starting blocks waiting for the trigger. Good luck all

Airlines stocks will not fully recover before next year (I read this), unless the pandemic causes some new kinds of problems. If you are in for the long haul it should give you are fair return.

Dr. Amesh Adalja, senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins University Center for Health Security, wrote in an email to CNN on Friday.
"There will never be a time when there is a zero COVID threat as the virus transitions to endemicity," Adalja wrote. "Once the virus is tamed — by losing the ability to threaten hospital capacity through high levels of population immunity and treatments — I think public health recommendations will be more relaxed, though some people may voluntarily choose to continue to use them in high risk contexts." $UAL $LUV $DAL $JBLU

As I suspected, an opening with a pop, followed by a heavy retreat. The travel stock investor community is on the fence and we won’t see much movement one way or the other until the data on this strain is available and digested. Let’s expect to be in this low 40’s for a few weeks. And then it can go anywhere from there. I am anxiously awaiting new news on Pfizer’s pill

All cases for which there is information available on severity were either asymptomatic or had mild symptoms. So far, no severe cases or deaths have been reported among these cases.

A new variant which is less harmful than the other variants comes out and the air shares tank. I don't understand the world anymore :(

The WHO is calling this morning for countries to drop travel restrictions and end the mass hysteria, and instead be cautiously optimistic as more and more reports out of South Africa suggest the new Omicron variant is not more lethal than the previous Delta variant.
