UPDATE 1-Russia: Diplomatic ties with US could break down over asset seizures

Russia may cut diplomatic ties with the United States if Washington confiscates Russian assets frozen over the Ukrainian war, the Interfax news agency quoted Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as saying on Friday. The United States "must not act under an illusion... that Russia is clinging with both hands to diplomatic relations with that country," Ryabkov said.

Mubadala, Inpex among suitors for Malaysia's SapuraOMV in $1.2-bln deal -sources

Abu Dhabi state fund Mubadala Investment and Japanese oil and gas explorer Inpex are among firms competing to acquire SapuraOMV in a deal expected to be worth about $1.2 billion, according to two sources with direct knowledge. The sale of the Malaysian-headquartered oil and gas upstream company could help boost weak global merger and acquisition (M&A) activity buffeted by headwinds from a slowing world economy, higher interest rates and geopolitical tension. Indonesian energy company Medco Energi is also vying for SapuraOMV, an equal joint venture of Sapura Energy and Austria's OMV, with bids due this week, the sources added.

UPDATE 1-APPEC-Austria's OMV starts up biofuels plant at Schwechat refinery

Austria's OMV started up a new biofuels plant at its Schwechat refinery two weeks ago, a company executive said at an energy industry conference in Singapore on Tuesday. The plant can produce around 160,000 metric tons per year (tpy) of sustainable diesel components from bio-oils, said Michael Spitzbart, senior vice president of OMV's refining business. The company also "plans to go into sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), renewables, hydrogen and electrolysis," Spitzbart told Reuters on the sidelines of the APPEC conference.
