    Japan's Isuzu Motors to produce EV pickup trucks in Thailand

    Japanese automaker Isuzu Motors plans to use Thailand as a production base for an electric version of its D-MAX pickup truck, with a plan to start exports next year, a Thai government spokesperson said on Thursday. Chai Wacharonke said the firm plans to invest 1 trillion yen ($6.62 billion) in research and development by 2030, including in a testing centre. The electric D-MAX will be exported from Thailand starting in 2025 to countries like Norway, Britain, Australia and others, Chai said.

    Thai auto stocks take a hit after Indonesia announces Isuzu move

    Shares of Thai auto parts companies fell sharply on Thursday following reports that Japanese automaker Isuzu Motors would relocate its factory in Thailand to Indonesia, before recovering slightly after the auto maker denied any such move. Indonesian Industry Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita had said on Wednesday that Isuzu could start production in Indonesia as early as next year. But Isuzu on Thursday denied any such plans.

    Japanese truck maker Isuzu Motors plans to relocate a factory from Thailand to Indonesia and could start production as early as next year, Indonesia's industry minister said on Wednesday. Minister Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita met with Isuzu's executives in Tokyo on Tuesday, the ministry said in a statement. Isuzu in Thailand did not immediately respond to a request for confirmation.
