MOVES-Malaysia's biggest lender Maybank announces new top management line-up
Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) said on Tuesday it is making new appointments to its top management, including the appointment of current global banking group CEO Muzaffar Hisham as Islamic banking group CEO effective March 1. The biggest bank in Malaysia said in a statement that Muzaffar, who has over 25 years of experience, will succeed Mohamed Rafique Merican who will assume the role of advisor starting March 1 and retire on June 20. John Chong, currently Maybank's community financial services group CEO, will take over Muzaffar's role as global banking group CEO, it added.

UPDATE 1-Frasers Centrepoint to buy additional 24.5% stake in retail mall NEX
Singapore retail real estate investment trust Frasers Centrepoint Trust said on Thursday it is acquiring an additional 24.5% effective interest in retail mall NEX for S$523.1 million ($390.4 million). "The acquisition follows from our initial acquisition of 25.5% in NEX in February 2023 and will raise FCT’s effective interest to 50.0% on completion," FCT's Chief Executive Officer Richard Ng said in a statement. The acquisition values the whole of NEX, the largest suburban mall in the northeast of Singapore by net lettable area, at S$2.13 billion, according to the statement.

UPDATE 1-Malaysia's Maybank appoints Alvin Lee as new CEO for Singapore
Malaysia's biggest bank Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) said on Friday it had appointed Alvin Lee Han Eng as chief executive officer for Maybank Singapore, effective Jan. 1. Lee is also appointed as the new country CEO and CEO of Malayan Banking's Singapore branch, Maybank said in a statement.
