Top 10 richest Canadians

Where does Chip Wilson rank among Canada's 10 wealthiest people?
#10 Chip Wilson, 57. Worth: $3.51B, 23% 2011 rank: 15 Vancouver, Lululemon Athletica Inc. The founder of Vancouver’s designer Yoga apparel maker Lululemon moved from 15th to 10th place on the back of a more than $600 million spike in the value of his personal wealth. Just two years ago Wilson was in the middle of the list, at No. 49, but when operating income at the yogawear retailer he founded soared 67% in 2011, he was catapulted into the Canadian elite. Wilson started Lululemon in Vancouver in 1998 and stepped down as chief innovation and branding officer at the company this past January (he remains chairman). In April, Wilson joined the board of David’s Tea.(Photo: Grant Harder)

Canadian Business has crunched the numbers and found Canada’s wealthiest people for our annual Rich 100 list. And though 2012 has been a decidedly mixed year economically, it’s actually been a great year for the 100 richest Canadians—individuals so wealthy they’re members not just of the 1% but the 0.00028%. Eighty-six of them grew their net worth, while 69 are valued at more than $1 billion.
