PHOTOS: Singapore’s state funeral service for S R Nathan

Singapore bid its final farewell to ex-President S R Nathan on Friday (26 August).

Nathan had been lying in state since Thursday (25 August) at the Parliament House. Tens of thousands of Singaporeans and foreign VIPs had turned up to pay their last respects to Nathan.

His casket, draped in the state flag, was carried on a gun carriage for the state funeral procession to the University Cultural Centre (UCC) at the National University of Singapore (NUS), where the state funeral service was held.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong led the eulogies during the funeral service, with other figures such as Ambassador-at-Large Tommy Koh, non-resident Ambassador to Kuwait Zainul Abidin Rasheed and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Chan Chun Sing also making speeches.
