BURNABY, British Columbia (AP) _ Xenon Pharmaceuticals Inc. (XENE) on Tuesday reported a loss of $7.8 million in its second quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Burnaby, British Columbia-based company said it had a loss of 45 cents.

Xenon Pharmaceuticals shares have more than tripled since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Tuesday, shares hit $9.95, more than tripling in the last 12 months.
