Woodward, Hexcel, Ford, Walmart, Dunkin' Brands, Comcast: Companies to Watch

Here are some of the stocks the Yahoo Finance team is watching for you today.

A huge merger will soon create one of the world's largest aerospace and defense suppliers. Woodward (WWD) is combining with Hexcel (HXL) in an all-stock "merger of equals", valued at more than $6 billion dollars. The companies supply parts for Boeing and Airbus, and will have a combined market cap of nearly $14 billion dollars.

Things aren't looking good for Ford (F) in China, where sales fell for the third year in a row. Last year, Ford sold just about 568,000 cars, down 26% from 2018, and less than half of what it sold at its peak in China back in 2016. Ford says it expects its sales numbers to be even worse this year, as China's auto market continues to shrink.

A major shakeup at Walmart (WMT). The world's largest retailer fired 56 of its executives in India, according to Reuters. It's part of a restructuring plan as Walmart struggles to expand there. The company operates 28 wholesale stores in Asia, which sells items to business owners instead of retail consumers.

Dunkin’ (DNKN) and Snoop Dog are collaborating on a plant-based sandwich. This week only, Dunkin’ customers can order the ‘Beyond D-O-Double-G Sandwich’ which contains a Beyond Sausage patty with egg and cheese served on a sliced Glazed donut. Dunkin' is also throwing a 'Beyond Bash' on January 24th and 25th where Beyond Meat fans can try free samples of the plant-based sandwich at restaurants nationwide.

First it grabbed the biggest award at the Golden Globes and now it's done the same at the box office. Universal’s (CMCSA) World War One action Drama "1917" was the number one movie this weekend, raking in more than $36 million dollars in North America. That beat Disney's (DIS) Star Wars which had held the top spot for three weeks.
