Why Married At First Sight Australia's Melissa wasn't Jules' bridesmaid after all

From Cosmopolitan

While the Married At First Sight Australia season finale marked disaster for Jessika Powers and Dan Webb's relationship, Cameron Merchant and Jules Robinson lightened the mood by announcing they were going to get married for real.

During the final dinner party, Jules asked Melissa Lucarelli and Heidi Latcham to be her bridesmaids, touching on how they had been by her side throughout the experiment and she wanted them their on the big day. So far, so lovely.

But three years after the experiment took place (and little over a year after their second wedding), Melissa has revealed she actually wasn't invited to the wedding after all, and her friendship with Jules has since diminished.

"We'd be talking about the bridesmaids plans, but because they were doing it so secretively, I had to email [Jules] and her management to check dates," Melissa said on The Kyle and Jackie O Show.

Melissa says Jules later called and, "[She said] 'You're not going to be a bridesmaid anymore. I haven't really seen you this year, it wouldn't be right to have you standing next to me [at] my real wedding.'

"I was so shocked... it didn't make sense. I have absolutely no idea what happened. I was asked to be a bridesmaid in such a public way. The reason she asked [me and Heidi to be bridesmaids] was because we had seen them fall in love, and we'd formed a bond in the experiment."

Melissa added, "Jules then said that for the first five months of our friendship she'd have done anything for me, but then it changed. No one told me our friendship expired in February."

While Jules hasn't responded to Melissa's latest comments, following her wedding to Cameron in December 2019, she did touch on why her fellow Married At First Sight Australia contestant wasn't present.

"You know, when it got to the time, I just felt that it wasn't... it didn't feel right [to have her as a bridesmaid], you know," Jules said on The Today Show. "We hadn't really seen each other and I just really wanted my close friends to be there, to be by my side, and my best friends. So that was my decision."

Eek, that is awkward.
