West Ham vs Man United: Prediction, kick off time, team news, TV, live stream, h2h results, latest odds today

Jesse Lingard was a revelation during his loan spell at West Ham last season but Covid restrictions meant fans could only show their appreciation once and that was in a crowd limited to 10,000.

After arriving in January, Lingard claimed nine goals and four assists in 16 games helping the Hammers qualify for the Europa League and finish on 65 points, their best tally in the top flight.

This afternoon, the midfielder is due to return to a packed London Stadium but in Manchester United’s colours, having turned down a permanent move to the Hammers in the summer.

Lingard has been limited to substitute appearances this season, and while he scored against Newcastle last week, he made a very different sort of impact on Tuesday.

His misplaced backpass gifted Young Boys a shock 2-1 win in the Champions League. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said the 28-year-old will learn from that mistake and is sure it will not play on his mind.

West Ham vs Manchester United team news

Michail Antonio is West Ham’s top scorer this season with four goals but he will miss the game after his sending off at Southampton.

Scott McTominay picked up a groin injury at the end of last month and although the Scotland midfielder was not fit enough to play inn Switzerland he could make his return today.

West Ham vs Manchester United prediction

West Ham have made big progress under David Moyes but the price of qualifying for the Europa League is less rest and more travelling. And with the Hammers kicking off their European adventure in Zagreb on Thursday night, that will probably have an impact on their performance in this game. United, bruised by defeat in Switzerland, will have a point to prove and they will make it.
